Silverback Gorilla Sculpture - Freezing in the Frost !

Wish I could get a glaze that could do this ! Got up this morning to another freezing morning but what a great sight in my garden. Silverback gorilla sculpture covered in frost - Wow that back looks silver now. At least it shows that my garden sculpture really is frost proof!

Posted more pictures of this on my Facebook page  Like the page to keep up the date with my work.

Glazing Animal Sculptures -Brian Hollingworthj

Two peices of sculpture ready for glazing and finishing. They have dried and then been fired in my electric kiln. I fire this to 1030C - quite HOT ! The clay changes in the firing into a hard material that is still absorbant. Glazes and stains are applied; all by hand with great care. Everything in ceramics takes time !

I have posted more pictures of the process on Facebook

About Brian Hollingworth Animal Sculpture on Facebook

I have joined Facebook and am finding it fun ! The pictures above are on my Facebook page. I am putting pictures on as I work ! It is helpful as clients can use the page to see ther work as it progresses - then send a link to friends to see. It all adds to the fun !

The pictures are of an anteater sculpture I have just made because I wanted too! I have always like the strange shape of anteaters. They are wonderful creatures full of character. An incredible shape !

The new site is proving a success too. My wife has been updating both of my web sites and they have a lot of new work featured on them.

Commission of your own dog - Wire Haired Pointer Dog

Really enjoyed making this dog commisson. I hadn't made a dog like this before so it was a challenge. Lovely dog with character. Client found the web site and got in touch with me. The top pictures shows it half way through the making. Middle picture is it completed but ready for drying before it can be fired in the kiln. And the last picture? That's me working on the dog getting the form right. The flow and fall of the fur made it really interesting. I have posted more pictures on Facebook -Hollingworth Animal Sculpture. Or worth looking at one of my web sites.

Beaulieu Exhibition 'How High the Moon' Hare Sculpture

Exhibition at Beaulieu Estate Hampshire
'How High the Moon' Hare sculpture

The sculpture is now installed into the Surrey Scuplture Society sculpture Trail at Beaulieu.
The exhibition has now started and is on until September 3rd 2012. Delighted to have o sculpture selected for the exhibition. It has been put into a wild meadow near the Palace at Beaulieu. There is a path to the side of it, but as you can see in the pictures it is so well hidden that the hare looks as if it is quite at home in the new setting.  Such a well chosen site - thanks to the organiser of the trail.
The sculpture can also be viewed on my web site www.hollingworth-bronze-sculpture.co.uk

Polar Bear Cubs Sculpture in Marble Resin for Sale

Polar Bear Cubs

I have just finished these Polar Bear Cubs. They began as a clay model and have beeen moulded and cast in white marble resin. This is something new for me and I wanted to experiment with a small sculpture to test the idea out. I think they are very tactile and have a lot of charm. Its got my creative ideas going - could prehaps do a series of these small studies of young aminals. What do you think?

Delighted that one of my hare sculptures has been accepted for Exhbition on the sculpture trail at Beaulieu this summer. There is an opportunity to buy too so clients in the West country will be able to see my work first hand.

Unloading the Kiln

New work being unloaded

Cold day here today so it was good to be somewhere warm. I had new orders for work to complete so fired the work this week. Tha large preening hare has given me a lot of pleasure to make. The clien saw the previous hare like this which had already been sold off the web site. So a new larger one was commissioned. I am really pleased with the way it has turned out. I have got just the exact look that I was hoping for and the first firing is excellent.
You will notice in the picture some small owls . These are a new project, again I was asked for 'owls' by a gallery and it got my mind going. These are small to start with as have to work out a good finish as well as form. Fun to do !
